Homemade Texas works year-round to support home food producers, homesteaders, hobbyists and entrepreneurs. But we can’t do it alone – we rely on memberships and support from the community to be able to continue our mission.
Cottage Foods
We were the force behind the first cottage food bill in 2009 and have played a major role in the passage of every cottage food bill since (2011, 2013, and 2019).
Backyard chickens
We believe it is the right of every person to grow food for themselves. Covid and the 2021 Freeze exposed the fragility of the food system and the need for shorter and more diverse food chains.
Front yard gardens
Many HOAs prohibit the growing of fruits or vegetables in the front yard, even if that is the only suitable spot for the homeowner to grow food. We believe every person has the right to grow an attractive and well-maintained garden on their own property – even in the front yard.
