For state-based legislation, we focus on our state legislators.  Every Texan has a State Representative and a State Senator.  Note that these are different than our federal representatives (US Congress and Senate).  Your State Representative and Senator will have an Austin-based office, plus an office near you, and an Austin-based phone number that starts with 512-463-XXXX.  Your Texas state senators are not Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, those are US Senators.
